East York Energy Hub is strategically located between the Osbaldwick Substation to the west and the A64 to the east and away from existing residential properties. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to support the UK’s transition to a low-carbon future by providing flexible energy generation and storage solutions for renewable energy. The developed area used for the battery storage development will be on the field tucked furthest away from local properties to the southeast which a detailed planting regime proposed to mitigate the visual impact of the scheme as well as delivering significant natural benefits to the local ecology.
The application (24/02303/FULM) was approved by York City Council on 15 September 2025 and Aukera are preparing to discharge the pre-commencement planning requirements ahead of constructing the project
